You’re in the right place.
This page is here to help you manage the plant lists for your course and share materials with students – you don’t need to get everything perfect or finished before class starts!
Support is built into each section below. Choose what you need right now and move at your own pace.

Quick resources you can send right away – download handouts, syllabus text, and email templates here.
Prefer to start small? Tips and tricks.
You don’t need to have everything ready before class starts. Put together plant lists week-by-week as you go.
Your course plant lists are published on our student site students.plantmaster.com, and can be reviewed there any time.
You can update the plants within an existing list directly from your PlantMaster account. As long as the list already exists, those changes update automatically – no extra steps needed.
If you want to rename a list or add a new list (such as creating a new week), please contact us so we can publish those changes to the student site. Otherwise, students won’t see them.
We strongly recommend having students import lists one week at a time. This gives you the flexibility to fine-tune plants as the course unfolds. Any plant changes you make within an existing weekly list will update automatically – just make sure students import the most current version.
If you need help publishing any changes or want to talk anything through, we’re happy to help.
Clicking this button will take you to the student site (students.plantmaster.com). Select your school to review the plant lists your students see.
If you need any help updating your plant lists, setting things up, or forgot your PlantMaster login info – contact us! We’re happy to walk you through things or offer quick help.
Prefer to learn on your own or just need a quick refresher on something specific? Our training materials cover how to set up and manage plant lists at your own pace.
Students are far more likely to use PlantMaster when its recommended as part of the course; and it’s a tool that truly supports how they learn Plant ID.
This section includes a student-ready PDF you can share at the start of class so students receive the student discounted rate, along with optional syllabus language and email text you can copy and send directly to your students.
We’ve put together a short PDF you can send directly to your students with an overview of PlantMaster quizzes and student pricing. Share the PDF at the start of class so students can get set up quickly.
Optional text you can copy and paste for your class description.
Plant Study Tools
This course requires the use of PlantMaster, a plant study and quizzing tool, to support weekly plant identification and visual recognition.
Students will use PlantMaster to study the specific plant lists covered in this course. These lists are provided through the program and align with weekly coursework. PlantMaster allows students to learn complex latin names and identify each plant on sight via online quizzes.
Additional information about accessing PlantMaster will be shared at the start of class.

Plant Study Tools
Students are strongly encouraged to use PlantMaster, a plant study and quizzing tool, to support plant identification and visual learning in this course.
PlantMaster is a separate lab fee and provides access to the plant lists used in class. It allows students to learn complex latin names and recognize plants on sight via quizzing tools designed for horticulture. Students find that using PlantMaster helps them study more efficiently and stay aligned with the plants covered each week.
Additional information about accessing PlantMaster will be shared during the course.

Optional email you can send to your students.
Hi everyone,
For this course, we’re partnering with PlantMaster. You’ll have the option to purchase this tool as part of your lab fees to make learning latin names really easy.
PlantMaster is an online software program that offers plant quizzes for horticulture students. These quizzes are designed to help you recognize plants by sight using multiple images and visual details, which matches how you’ll be tested in this class.
PlantMaster also gives you access to the exact plant lists we’re covering in class, organized around our coursework. The lists are already set up, so once you create your account and import the class lists, you can start studying right away without having to build your own flashcards or collect your own images.
Please review the attached handout for more details.
You can learn more and sign up (with a heavy student discount) at students.plantmaster.com.
Let me know if you have any questions as you get started.
Best,

Instead of trying to finalize your entire course before class even begins, we recommend working week by week and staying a little bit ahead of your class.
Set up the upcoming week, make any adjustments you need, then move on to the next. This keeps the whole process from feeling overwhelming.
The goal is to take pressure off early setup and planning. Students will always study the plants you want them focused on that week, and you don’t have to kill yourself finalizing everything months in advance.
Below is a simple way to set this up so you can stay one step ahead without overthinking it.
First, you’ll need to decide how you want to group your plants. Most instructors create a list for every week and name them something simple like Week 1, Week 2, or List 1, List 2.
Once you have your list names, send them to us (support@plantmaster.com) and we’ll make sure they’re published to the student site. Renaming lists or adding brand-new lists later requires a quick update on our end, so getting the names established first makes everything else easy. We’ll also set up the corresponding projects in your PlantMaster account so you’re ready to go!
(If your lists are already published on the student site, skip ahead to Step 2.)
Before the first week of class, open the corresponding project in PlantMaster (for example, Week 1).
Add the plants you plan to teach that week. This is as simple as searching for a plant and clicking to add it to the list. (You can also email us if you have a plant list – we can help you speed up the process of organizing your plants in PlantMaster.)
As long as the list already exists, you don’t need to do anything else – your plant changes update automatically.
On the first day of class (or whenever you’re ready), let students know they can import the list for that specific week.
We recommend asking students to import only the lists you’ve released, rather than importing everything at once. This ensures they’re always getting the most up-to-date plants.
As the current week begins, you can start adjusting or adding the plants for the next week in PlantMaster.
Repeat the same process each week – update the plants, release the list when ready, and move on. This keeps your setup manageable and lets you focus on one week at a time.
